Junkai CHEN
1987 born in Shanghai，live and work between France and China，graduated for Master degree in Villa Arson-National High School of Fine art . In 2017, obtained Post-Diploma in Le Fresnoy-Studio of National Studio of contemporary arts in France.
Junkai Chen frequently works across various forms of art such as sculpture, installation, painting, music, and audiovisual. He consistently integrates elements from different art fields and cultures into his work.
He aims also to blend fine art and music. Although the goal of these art forms differs, he uses stage performances as a platform to narrate his story through his creations and compositions. His fine art work often showcases his unique characteristics: complexe and magic.
In recent years, Junkai has frequently participated in various interactive performances with innovative features. Particularly in his artwork - Correspondance, he captures the performer's movements through installations. He aims to create works that blend choreographic gestures, visuals, and sounds, using the body as a tool, akin to a painter's brush or a conductor's baton.
He is a pioneer in audiovisual and interactive installations. He has used audiovisual creation as a tool to enhance performances. He is always on the hunt for new musical instruments and crossmedia installations to share his story, which is steeped in his own experiences across different cultures.
